Leaving a lasting impression
It’s always a great compliment to be recommended by a marketeer who has moved to a new company – and that’s what happened with OpenTable.
OpenTable is one of the world’s leading restaurant booking apps, allowing users to book everything from a fry up in their local café, to a table in one of the most prestigious restaurants the UK has offer.
They needed a team that could get to the heart of their marketing challenges, working alongside their inhouse resource to turnaround great work against the toughest of deadlines.
Luckily, that’s what we’re good at.
A simple idea, executed well
COVID had brought the hospitality industry to its knees. With no restaurants open, no-one was using the OpenTable app. It was critical then, for brand to be ready when the world began to open back up.
We started with a phased campaign, including a teaser to announce the re-opening of outdoor dining.
Our insights had shown us that people were yearning for human contact after being locked down for 18 months. So, our core idea was to focus on the social aspects of dining out, to ignite an emotive response and get the audience excited.
With the uncertainty of timings and constant shifts in official policy, we had to move quickly with the campaign once dates were firm – something our team handled with ease.
That ‘Jubiglee’ feeling
As the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee approached, OpenTable asked us once again to weave our magic and tap into the national spirit. This time, the timings were clear, but we still needed to work quickly to help generate advanced bookings in time for the big event.
Often a brand’s internal resources are busy with BAU and day-to-day activities, so it’s always useful to have an experienced external team on hand to rely on when the going gets tough.
